maximum capacity of a wired or wireless communications
to transmit data over a network connection in a given amount of time
maxmimum amount of bits that can be transmitted in specific amount of time
네트워크에서 특정 시간 내에 동시에 전송 될 수 있는 데이터의 최대 용량

• bandwidth ⬆️ more data transmitted at one time ⬆️
• however, bandwidth is different from data speed or data throughput(처리량)

example: water pipe

• Bandwidth: bigger the diameter of water pipe, more water can flow at one time
  

• bps(bits per sec)
• Mbps(Megabits per sec)
• Gbps(Gigabits per set)

✅ Data Speed

• Data Speed: how fast data is handled from starting point to end point
• download speed
• upload speed
• latency

✅ Throughput

• Throughput: 초당 실제로 처리되는 패킷의 양
• Bandwidth: 네트워크에서 잠재적으로 동시에 전송될 수 있는 데이터의 최대량

example: water pipe

• Bandwidth: when pipe can be used to 100%, how much water can pass per second
  
• Throughput: if for some reason, pipe is used only 80% full, this is throughput
